I was under the impression that the UK McDonald's were switching to Rain Forest Alliance coffee, not fair trade -- although some media outlets referred to the switch as fair trade, as McDonald's is offering some kind of social premium to the coffee producers. Did I miss something?

Siel, hi

You may be right. I picked up the information from another news source, but it did didn't provide a primary source. If you or anyone else has a source with more reliable information, I'll update what I wrote.

It's both. McDonald's in the US is now serving fair-trade coffee. There was a short-lived media blitz about it. I don't know if it's still true, because I haven't been in a McDonald's in years.

McDonald's in the UK is serving Rainforest Alliance coffee, which it bills as "ethical" or "eco-friendly."
